Longio Mythos Tourbillon White Jade Watch

China based Longio is a watch brand and supplier. I have praised them in the past for imbuing their designs with some interesting Chinese character as opposed to just mimicking European designs. Longio's proudest model for 2011 is this Mythos watch with a tourbillon movement, 18k gold hand-engraved Phoenix on the dial, and a case and bracelet made out of white jade. The Mythos may not be a watch I would consider my style, but it is really interesting and attractive. Longio further claims that this is the first watch ever with a case and bracelet made out of white jade (the most valuable form of jade).

The Mythos is made as a one-of-a-kind timepiece and contains a Chinese-made tourbillon movement with an expose tourbillon carriage. The black dial contrasts well with the golden Phoenix bird. I wonder if we will start to see more jade cased watches, it could happen.

Striking though it is, the CPT002 is more than just a pretty face. The tie-in with Aston Martin comes into play as the phone is designed to interface with the car's infotainment system, wirelessly interfacing with social media sites to help you locate the people you're meeting up with or updating them automatically on the progress of your road trip or day at the race track. The built-in accelerometer will also alert the car itself in case of an impending crash, preparing the car's safety systems for the imminent collision.

Impressive stuff, though strictly a concept for the time being.

If you were going on an expedition and wanted to take all your luxuries with you, what would you pick? A Range Rover? Maybe a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen? Neither of these nor any other vehicle can rival the sheer capabilities of the Zetros.

Made by Mercedes' truck division, the Zetros packs a 7.2-liter inline-six diesel engine with 326 horsepower and 960 lb-ft of torque driving all six wheels for a 16-ton cargo capacity and go-anywhere capabilities. But while these vehicles are used by militaries around the world to move cargo, a pair of Mongolian businessmen -- one runs a mining operation and the other a brewery -- have commissioned a pair for their hunting expeditions.

The specially-made models feature full bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom (complete with shower, marble tiles and under-floor heating), 46-inch flatscreen TV monitors, outdoor grilles, Bose sound systems, self-adjusting motorized satellite dishes, wireless internet... the works. It actually costs only 2 million euros - but that is close enough to 3 Million dollars to call it that right? This year Hublot makes another big bang with this baguette diamond covered 18k white gold Big Bang tourbillon watch. This follows up the Million Dollar Bing Bang from a few years ago that used black diamonds. The $3 Million Big Bang has something like 142 carats of diamonds all over the case, dial, and bracelet. Most of them are large baguette-cut stones and they look marvelous.

The 18k white gold bracelet is stunning with all the diamonds. There is a blinding amount of bling, and that is just what Hublot was going for. The watch speaks as much to other brands as it does consumers about Hublot's market stance. Inside the watch is an in-house made caliber HUB 6003 manually wound tourbillon movement with off-centered time display. Pieces like this are made to order for the right type of people. This isn't the type of watch you can just walk around in. Though at the right social event, the guy wearing the diamond encrusted Hublot that sells for an obscene price might have his taste and sanity questioned, but certainly not his success.
